Matcha authenticity and analytical methods: the research

As matcha has become popular, analysts have developed ways to verify what is in a tin: near-infrared and hyperspectral imaging, fluorescence and other spectroscopy with machine learning to identify grade, producer or geographic origin, and DNA tests for plant-based adulterants.

This is the technical backbone behind any claim about grade or origin.
